  • EnterpriseSplaining 32: Malcolm Gets Poked!

We’re watching Star Trek: Enterprise Season 2, Episode 3 “Minefield,” but only Bill has actually watched the episode. Hey everyone it’s a Malcolm-focused episode which means the writers are shaking the Etch-A-Sketch and giving us another new take on the character. It all starts with an awkward breakfast and then HOLY CRAP things are blowing up. Can Malcolm and Archer navigate both a physical minefield and their emotional minefield as Malcolm finally confesses… ah just kidding. Anyway, Romulans.

    Rikermendations:

    • Maria: The Wild Robot (movie)
    • Jamie: Conclave (movie)
    • Bill: Horimiya (anime and manga)
    • Sound assistance by K.O. Myers at Particulate Media

      • Flopcast 676: Breakdancing Fish Police – The Comics of 1985

Flopcast episode 676! We’re looking back at the comic book scene of forty years ago, and we’ve brought in a special guest to help: ESO Network Director (and longtime comic book fan) Mike Faber. The big story of 1985 was Crisis on Infinite Earths, but we cover much more, including: The New Teen Titans, Justice League Detroit, the trial of the Flash, Elvira’s House of Mystery, Secret Wars II, Heroes for Hope, the silliness of Ambush Bug, the genius of Alan Moore (Swamp Thing, Miracleman), and the independent stuff too (Love and Rockets, Cerebus, DNAgents, Jon Sable Freelance, and those crazy Ninja Turtles). This podcast should be bagged, boarded, graded, slabbed, and thrown on eBay with a Buy It Now price of zero dollars.

      • Modern Musicology #135 – OLIVIA SERAFINI-SAULI!

        Olivia Serafini-Sauli

A year ago we interviewed filmmaker OLIVIA SERAFINI-SAULI on the completion of her film Endless Calls For Fame: The Story of the New Rising Sons. Since then, that film has found North American distribution and is now available on all major streaming platforms in a slightly reworked / updated format. We catch up with Olivia to learn about her journey over the past year — clearing the rights to all the music, what went into getting the film picked up, putting together the gala screenings, and the joy of seeing her film on the big screen. It’s a conversation you don’t want to miss! Endless Calls For Fame is the story of a band from the New York 90s scene who got signed to a major label and were poised to be the next big thing, until … it just didn’t happen. It’s an incredible story that music lovers will enjoy.

Learn more about Olivia and Endless Calls For Fame at the Via73 Films website. Watch Endless Calls For Fame on AppleTV, Prime Video, Fandango At Home, and other streaming sources.

After our chat with Olivia, we share our memories of fallen Blondie drummer Clem Burke. Alan talks about the first time he heard Clem’s playing, and Stephanie tells a great story about being in a band with him!
