  • Flopcast 662: The Super Dictionary – And That’s Terrible

Flopcast episode 662! If your New Year’s Resolution was to strengthen your vocabulary with the help of some DC Comics superheroes, we’ve got you covered. Yes, we’re turning back to The Super Dictionary, that bizarre book of words and definitions for the kids of 1978. Our latest batch of Super Dictionary entries features: Supergirl catching flies, Wonder Woman staggering about in a fog, Black Canary vs. a giant owl, Krypto the Super Dog gobbling like a turkey, Penguin being creepy and weird, and Atom’s tiny handkerchief. We also learn a bit too much about Comet the Super Horse, and we review the most notorious entry in the whole book. Yes, it’s time to discuss Luthor and his forty stolen cakes. Also: Chickens in the News! Want to stay at a massive rooster-shaped hotel in the Philippines? Yeah, we thought so.

  • The 42cast Episode 222: Power Trip

This episode is dedicated to the memory of Akira Toriyama, a brilliant creator responsible for the design of games like Sonic the Hedgehog and Dragon Quest (Dragon Warrior in the 80’s/90’s in the US) as well of course as the Dragon Ball manga.

Dragon Ball Z is one of the first anime that many people in America ever saw. Popularized by the Toonami block on Cartoon Network, Dragon Ball quickly gained a huge following. In this episode we look at the entire franchise from the original Dragon Ball to the more recent Dragon Ball Super. We also discuss the potential for Dragon Ball Daima. Along the way we touch on our favorite characters, favorite storylines, and what we find compelling about the overall narrative. We’ll also air some frustrations and give some thoughts about what we’d still like to see from the franchise.

Due to time constraints there is no five-minute controversy in this episode.

This week James; Mike; and the living embodiment of Goku himself, Kevin, join the cast.

    Show Notes:

  • 2025 Plans and Resolutions

    2025 Plans and Resolutions!

New year, new me? Not this time folks! Our first episode of the new year, and our 16th episode overall, is a guideline for the future. The turning of the calendar brings with it a certain kind of perspective. Looking at what has come before, and what we wish to come next. 2025 is here. We are ready for whatever it may bring. And yet, along with that uncertainly, we are creating a framework or roadmap to help us along.

As your hosts, we find it important that you (the listener) know what to expect from the Have Coffee Will Travel podcast. We want HCWT to be entertaining, informative, thought-provoking, and consistent. Consistency is key in any type of relationship. You can expect us to be consistent in our opening and closing statements. And you can expect us to be here for you every 2 weeks. However, don’t be surprised by the occasional bonus episode.

This episode is called 2025 Plans and Resolutions. To know where we are going, we must see where we have been. That’s why we start off with a recap and highlight reel of the past year. We married in 2024. And we bought our first home together. Shawn went on his first cruise. Leah finally got to see the Trans Siberian Orchestra and go to a Disney after hours party. We both went to Las Vegas for the first time, and we each lost loved ones.

Where are we going? What do we have planned? We are going to focus on the future, by paying off the past. Paying down our debt is our major resolution for 2025. By sweeping away what is owing, we can breathe easier knowing future travel is possible. We had our first real budget meeting this week. This means we sat down and looked at all of our bills, what we owe, and what we make. Now we know what we can afford. We also want to write our wills and figure out our power of attorney situation. Several mini road trips are planned for the year, and the only major expense is a cruise for the end of the year.
