With the sad news that Scotland legend Gordon McQueen was suffering from vascular dementia, former Scotland goalkeeper Gemma led the debate on concussion substitutes, the possibility of using foam balls in training for heading practice and the risks to footballers in later life.

Andy, who was forced to retire from football following a series of head injuries, and Alan as a central defender, are well placed to comment on this issue.

But the man who led Rangers to seven of their record equalling nine-in-a-row Scottish titles insists this latest win should be regarded as a beginning - and not an end.

 

Smith, now 73, completed his own remarkable feat in 1998, before coming back to the club nine years later and winning three more consecutive league titles, one Scottish Cup, two League Cups and finishing runner-up in the UEFA Cup in 2008.

 

And he compares current ‘Gers boss and former Anfield skipper Steven Gerrard with another Liverpool legend who also led Rangers to glory, Graeme Souness.
