Luna finds a stack of old sheet music at an estate sale in Ash Creek, Iowa, late summer 2019. The last piece is a handwritten hymn titled 'What the Willow Knows.' The woman who owned it, Eleanor Gifford, died alone in her house, and the neighbors say she played piano every night until the end. Luna buys the sheet for a dollar and plays it on the upright piano in the living room. The melody is simple, childlike, but the notes shift halfway through into something wrong — a chord that should not resolve, a key change that feels like a door opening. Afterward, the rocking chair in the corner moves on its own. And in the quiet, Luna hears a faint piano playing from the back of the house, where no piano exists. A quiet, creaking story about what lingers in the notes we leave behind.
