Thanks for checking out the 208th episode of The ETX ROCKS Show! Our guest this week has a unique perspective into the life of one of the biggest names in the history of Country Music. Many consider Waylon Jennings the original outlaw in Country Music, his oldest son Terry joins us this week to discuss the book he wrote “Waylon, Tales of My Outlaw Dad”. In this truly introspective, honest book, Terry puts to rest many legends and half truths told about Waylon through the years and offers an incredible view into what life on the road was like with his dad! We are excited to welcome Terry Jennings to The ETX ROCKS Show for the first time!!

(Courtesy of https://www.waylonson.com/)

Terry Jennings is the CEO and founder of Korban Music Group LLC, a full service management, consulting and publishing company.  Mr. Jennings is well known for his varied experience at all levels of the music business, including management of major label acts, since 1972. He was introduced to the business at an early age through his work as production manager for his father, Waylon Jennings.  He has also worked for booking agencies, publishing companies and as a talent scout for major label companies, including RCA Records.  As a member of the Jennings family, he has been involved in the music industry his entire life, and – over the years – he was given the opportunity to become personally acquainted with most everyone in the business.

Thanks for checking out the 207th episode of the show! We are beyond excited to tell you who this week’s guest is! 2017 is his 30th year in the music business, in 1991 he headed to Nashville on the advice from renown songwriter Dean Dillon and quickly made experiences playing in Martina McBride & Tracy Lawrence’s band, but his dream all along was to become a successful recording artist in his own right! In 1996, his debut album “One Ride in Vegas” was released, since then he has released 8 more albums, 10 top 100 national charting singles and multiple #1 hits in the state of Texas! The name Deryl Dodd is synonymous with the Texas Country Music Scene as he is one of the guys who helped create a burgeoning, flourishing music community in The Lone Star State! His new album “Long Hard Ride” is not your everyday “Greatest Hits” album, yes it has most of the songs you know by heart included, but Deryl went a step further in including 14 of the biggest Texas artists around as Cody Jinks, Wade Bowen, William Clark Green, Randy Rogers, Stoney LaRue, Matt Hillyer, Radney Foster, Roger Creager, Kevin Fowler, Bonnie Bishop, Larry Joe Taylor, Dave Perez, Cody Johnson & Pat Green all make an appearance!

Texas born musician, singer, songwriter and producer, Deryl Dodd, AKA “The Double D”, has had a long and colorful career, entering the music scene in Waco, Texas in 1987. After four years of constant touring with several Texas bands, Deryl had the opportunity to open a show for legendary songwriter Dean Dillon. Following the performance, he was invited backstage to meet Mr. Dillon, where he complimented Deryl’s songwriting and arranged to meet with him in Nashville. So he did. “People ask me how you get into the music business. You just get out there and do it. You’ve got to have great love and passion for it. It’s important to know your strengths and limitations, and when doors open, be prepared when you walk in.”

Thanks for checking out the 206th episode of The ETX ROCKS Show! Emanating from Huntsville, TX our guest in this episode has been influenced over the years by a broad range of music. Country, blues, southern rock and other styles of music have brought him to where he is today. Jerrett Zoch is no stranger to the top of the radio charts here in Texas, riding the success of 2 straight singles going #1, Jerrett along with his group The OSR Band, are knocking on the door again with their #2 current single called “Sippin’ On Shine!” All 4 of the singles in his career have graced the top 20, so this is just beginning for this young singer/songwriter! Ladies and gentlemen, we are excited to be talking to Jerrett Zoch!!

(Courtesy of http://jerrettzochandtheosrband.com/)

Jerrett Zoch and The OSR Band is a Texas band based out of Huntsville. Their music is influenced by the many different styles they have listened to over the years such as country, blues, southern rock, and many more. “We don’t write our songs to be a certain style or genre. We like to let the feel of a song, create the song.” -Jerrett Zoch

In 2010, Jerrett Zoch and Daniel Huggins, friends from Centerville, Texas, picked up two old guitars and began writing music together for fun. It didn’t take long for them to know they were on to something. Soon after, they were joined by drummer Berny Herrera, from neighboring town, Jewett. With Berny’s addition, the three officially formed the band and began seeking to increase the depth of their music. When they found bass player, Logan Mehringer from Teague, TX, they quickly asked him to join, and when he agreed, they were set to go.

#ALLGENRES #ALLSTYLES #ETXROCKS

Thanks for checking out the 204th episode of The ETX ROCKS Show! In this episode, one of our favorite people on the planet is returning to the show for the second time. He grew up right here in Longview, TX, and honed his skills early on under the wings of Unkle Dallas! He learned his craft in long defunct venues all across East Texas in Blues and Rock & Roll! But he is most well known internationally as one of the first Country Artists of Native American descent to be signed to a major label! With 3 albums and 10 charting singles, he could also be considered the first of many video stars on CMT having charted several videos in their top 10 throughout his career. He was also reportedly the first country artist to have his own website! Lately, however, my friend and brother has been battling health issues that have chiefly happened because of a hard on your body lifestyle that many musicians deal with throughout their lives! Ricky Lynn Gregg, the 2017 guitarist of the year for the ETX Music Awards, is no stranger to working hard and playing harder. In this in depth, no questions barred interview, we ask Ricky the hard hitting questions about his lifestyle, his health, his outlook and why he is speaking up against drugs and alcohol! Don’t miss this introspective look into a legend!

(Courtesy of http://rickylynngregg.com/biography.htm)

The release of Ricky Lynn Gregg’s third solo country album, “Careful What You Wish For” (RMG Records, 2001), solidifies Gregg as a mainstay artist in country music. As well known for his edgy brand of country as for his scores of devoted fans, Gregg refines his talent on this 10-song disc, and says he is more proud of this project than any of his previous albums.

Musically diverse, “Careful What You Wish For” is a clear reflection of a man known for his traditional country roots, his rockin country music, and his rangy vocals. This album truly offers something for every-one. From Victoria’s Secret, a deceptively simple Gregg-penned tribute to the inner beauty of women, to Tornado, the hard rockin’, comical story of trouble in a trailer park, this album ranges from southern rock, to stone cold traditional country, to contemporary country pop. Co-produced by Gregg, Barry Beckett and Eddie Gore, legendary blues man Steve Cropper even lent a hand on a few of the tracks.

Thanks for checking out the 203rd episode of The ETX ROCKS Show! In this episode we introduce to our audience a brand new guest host and a new segment called “Wednesday’s With Will McPherson! His guest on his first interview with us started his music career somewhere around 1973. Originally from Robbinsville, NC, he is a 6 time Grammy Award winner and has accrued 40 Number 1 hits throughout his career, 3rd only behind George Strait and Conway Twitty in the history of Country Music. Ronnie Milsap is a 2014 inductee into The Country Music Hall of Fame and we are thrilled to present this in depth look at a musical genius. From his upbringing in music all the way to the 21st century, Will covers it all in this insightful conversation with one of the true icons of our generation! Thank you Ronnie Milsap for being our guest on The ETX ROCKS Show!

(Courtesy of http://ronniemilsap.com/)

Those formative teenage years set a tone for an entire lifetime. Personal battles, career goals, ideas about love – figuring out how all of that will play out during adulthood is one of the big chores of those high-school years. Setting the backdrop for much of that inner struggle is the music – it’s the soundtrack of one’s identity, the bond that glues generations.

That idea is at the heart of Ronnie Milsap’s Summer #17, an album that explores the influences on a musician who built a Hall of Fame-caliber career, who became one of the most influential voices in country music’s storied history.

Much has been made about how such new country acts as Eric Church, The Band Perry and Luke Bryan have fused elements of pop music’s past with the country core to create a new wave of sound. But Milsap set the standard for thinking outside of country’s proverbial box.

Thanks for checking out the 202nd episode of the show! Our guest for this episode is no stranger to radio success here in the state of Texas. His last 7 singles have gone straight to #1 status and his current single “You Don’t Have To Be Lonely” is well on it’s way to being #8 in that stretch. Having recently come off a west coast tour with Cody Johnson, Josh Ward is no stranger to East Texas, as he is part of a stable of impressive artists that record right here in Tyler, TX at the renown Rosewood Studios! Josh Ward’s songwriting, deep honky tonk roots and crazy good vocals will keep him on top for years to come!

(Courtesy of http://joshwardmusic.com/)

For most independent music artists, a bold statement like this could easily be waved off as a “head in the clouds” sentiment from a young and naive dreamer, but from Houston native Josh Ward, it just so happens to be a bona fide fact.  Since the release of both his second studio album “Promises” and his latest studio album “Holding Me Together,” Josh has amassed seven consecutive #1hits on the Texas Regional Radio Chart over two solid years and counting, distinguishing him as a new generation heavy weight champion of old school country music. Through tenacity and hard work Josh has grown into one of the most respected and appreciated musicians in the state. A well versed songsmith with a hauntingly traditional voice, his honest and visceral delivery of every song compels audiences to feel his lyrics with him as he takes them on his musical journey.  Fellow songwriter Mike Ethan Messick once said of Josh, "Josh Ward sings like Mike Tyson hits hard."

Thanks for checking out this Season 3 premiere, episode 201 of The ETX ROCKS Show! For this episode, Louise Leone hosts and joining her for the first time as the special co-host is Simon Young! America’s Got Talent’s Simon Cowell called her “America’s Diamond” but here in Eastern Texas we have been watching her grow for over 10 years! 18 months ago she was taking the world by storm as a semi-finalist on AGT captivating everyone with performance after performance on a National Stage! She has also garnered a half dozen ETX Music Awards as well as being named “New Female Vocalist of the Year” at the 2017 Texas Regional Radio Music Awards and “Young RIsing Star” at the 2017 Texas Country Music Awards! We are super excited to return to where it all began as our very first episode’s guest Kadie Lynn returns to ETX ROCKS!

(Courtesy of http://kadielynnmusic.com/)

Welcome to the 1st Chapter of a New York Times Best Seller, “Miss Kadie Lynn, a Musical Masterpiece”. Obviously the living biography of an adopted young girl who has been filled with an overflowing measure of music running through her veins, has barely started her journey. Her loving and supportive parents knew early on, when at the age of 3, that big voice that came out of her as she stood for the first time before her Church and sang four verses from memory of the most widely known gospel song ever written, “Amazing Grace”, they knew they had something very special in little Miss Kadie Lynn. The next 9 years have been nothing short of amazing blaze, singing for the Prime Minister of the Bahamas, opening for Vanilla Ice and Texas Country Artist Kevin Fowler, and most recently winning “Female Vocalist of the Year” in the East Texas ETX Annual Music Awards. Now, at the age of 12, she continues to wow audiences all over North Texas, her parents driving her between 200,00 and 300,000 miles a year, just to keep up with the demand on her talent. As a young writer, composer, guitarist, and an artist, Kadie Lynn is always growing, maturing, learning, and stretching to reach new heights, and has taken her 1st original single and video, “Stronger” to studio, completed and ready for release in early 2016. The next two original singles are right behind it, so be looking for them!
