From the very beginning Allies has been committed to raising awareness in the community. For over 11 years now the organization has been educating the community to understand what trafficking looks like. Hosts Caitlin Wuethrich and Jessica Evans are sharing the WHY behind the Allies Organization.
Allies offers 5 programs:
My Life My Choice: for high school (or upper middle school) girls through adults who are at risk or have been sexually exploited. MLMC is a national model of empowerment for girls and effective education on prevention of sexual exploitation. The curriculum is centered on the goals of changing attitudes and perceptions about the commercial sex industry, improving knowledge about sexual health and substance abuse, and increasing skills that help reduce the risk of exploitation.
Allies Mentorship: Mission - Allies Mentors believe that every survivor of sex trafficking and exploitation is worthy of healthy love, respect, and community. We realize this belief by walking through life with survivors in mentorship.
Thrive: Parents and guardians of youth affected by human trafficking and sexual exploitation have a unique set of experiences, concerns and needs that are often unmet. Not only does Allies want to reach this population with education and tools for success but also with a form of support and empathy that only others who have similar experiences can provide.
Job Training: The purpose of the Allies Job Training Program (JTP) is to help prepare survivors in the Allies Mentorship Program to enter into the workforce through a supportive and trauma-informed environment.
Campus Chapter: Our mission is to empower college students to raise awareness about human trafficking and exploitation, advocate for survivors, and garner support for the anti-trafficking efforts of Allies. Our campus chapter program – Campuses Against Trafficking – is designed to spur on college students in the fight against trafficking and exploitation. They are a passionate group of individuals with access to a large amount of people – an ideal situation for raising awareness about an important issue. Are you a college student interested in starting a chapter or do you know someone that might be? Keep reading to learn more about if this is right for your school!EDUCATE. CONNECT. EMPOWER.
