Kirsten is the Executive Director of AIDS Resource and the founder of Amazon Offsets - a non-profit that takes your donations to support Amazon workers in their pay gap and economic instabilities.AIDS Resource is a community-based organization that provides HIV prevention programs, HIV testing, and assistance to those living with or affected by HIV Founded in 1988.
AIDS Resource serves people in 10 counties in north-central Pennsylvania There is still a lot of stigma and misinformation about AIDS and HIV in our country and AIDS Resource is committed to educating, supporting, and sharing resources for those impacted by HIV and AIDS. As more effective treatments have dramatically increased the life expectancy of those living with HIV, the agency’s mission has expanded to include connecting clients with the resources they need to live with HIV.
Kirsten and I both grew up in the 80's when AIDS and HIV were causing massive deaths across the country. News and stories were on TV every day and people dying. Kirsten lost a close friend that forever changed her life plans.
"It was terrifying,” Kirsten said. “The younger generation, they didn't live through any of that. So, they don't really understand the extent to which it was a crisis, because now it really is manageable."

B. Elizabeth Beck is a poet who writes fiction. Her fifth collection of poetry, Dancing on the Page, was published by Rabbit House Press this year, 2024. She also has a debut collection of short stories published by Accents publishing this year, too.
For those of you who may have heard of Ms. Beck before or you are a Phish Phan, she’s also the author of the Summer Tour Trilogy, which is how I got to know this amazing woman, initially. She’s layered, inspirational, and what I love most is that she writes AND continues to guide others in learning their own voice through poetry and writing.
Elizabeth is the founder of two poetry series: Teen Howl and Poetry at the /ˈtā-bəl/ in Lexington, Kentucky.
It was so hard to edit our conversation down to a typical podcast episode. Elizabeth has SO MUCH to share and offer. Speaking with her feels like coming home to Aunt Karen's and having a mentor and friend all wrapped up in one.
