Lando Norris converted pole into a controlled victory, fending off intense pressure from teammate Oscar Piastri throughout the 70-lap race. It was McLaren’s first 1–2 in Austria since 2000, with Norris' third win of the season and Piastri maintaining his championship lead.

The race was overshadowed by a contentious incident involving Max Verstappen. After being instructed by his team to let Russell pass, Verstappen initially complied but then made contact with Russell at Turn 5, leading to a 10-second penalty and two Super License points. This penalty brings Verstappen close to a race ban, as he now has 11 penalty points within a 12-month period. Former world champion Nico Rosberg criticized the move as deliberate and unsportsmanlike, suggesting a black flag should have been issued.

The 2025 Miami Grand Prix, held on May 4 at the Miami International Autodrome, saw Oscar Piastri of McLaren secure his third consecutive win, leading a team 1-2 finish with Lando Norris second. George Russell of Mercedes completed the podium in third, while Max Verstappen of Red Bull Racing finished fourth. The race was marked by strategic pit stops and on-track battles, with Piastri's victory extending his lead in the Drivers' Championship to 131 points.
