The Face to Face

Sarah Hasselman joined the Burroughs faculty in summer 2020, teaching 8th and 9th grade English and co-sponsoring the student newspaper. She also formerly served as co-sponsor for the student group, Spectrum. She holds a bachelor’s degree in English from Williams College and a master’s degree in education from Tufts University. Prior to Burroughs, she taught at the Park School in Boston and worked in Student Services at Tufts. In this episode, we go into a deep dive about the complexity of identity and her experiences through finding her truest self. Andy Chen is an English teacher at John Burroughs School. Andy Chen joined the Burroughs faculty in 2016 and teaches 7th and 10th grade. He is also the co-director of the 10th grade diversity seminar, a girls basketball coach, and the faculty sponsor of the Asian affinity group and The Review. Mr. Chen holds a bachelor’s degree in English from the University of Chicago and a master’s degree in creative writing from Washington University in St. Louis. His poems and reviews have appeared in various publications. Outside of his work, he enjoys playing basketball and writing.

Mr. Walker is a teacher for 7th and 9th grade science at John Burroughs School in St. Louis. He graduated from John Burroughs High School as well as Yale University as an undergrad. He has worked in the field of biology before becoming a fellow at his high school. In this episode, we go into a deep dive about his life, about his future, and about his passions.
