The History (and the Future) of The Faith Debate
September 5th, 2021 - 9:00 am
News Radio 930 WFMD in Frederick, Maryland
.
After seventeen years of "tweaks" bringing different "seasons" to the Faith Debate show, there was a new tweak beginning with this episode.
.
At the very start of the program's existence (in 2004) it basically followed an interview format. Then it turned into more of a "talking heads" opinion show; guests have included all worldview traditions, and the conversations spiritedly tackled tough philosophical ideas and hot cultural topics. The show has also had periods when there were no guests, but merely a one man monologue. All of this came together in a brand new way beginning with this edition.
.
Into the foreseeable future there would be a set panel of local faith community leaders each week. This gave listeners the opportunity to better know exactly who's talking to them and where their motivations are rooted. The issues addressed moving forward continue to be profound, with the dialogue being just as spirited as ever. This represents an exciting new moment in the show's trajectory and hope that listeners continue to see it this way.

Advent Traditions
Faith Debate: August 29th, 2021
News Radio 930 WFMD in Frederick, Maryland
.
This episode brought Christmas to August. Why do Christians celebrate this holiday the way that they do? What's the origin of some of these social and religious conventions? How should discerning individuals think about all of this? This is the content that comprises the majority of the time in this potpourri edition of the show.
.
Also, it was possible that this could have been the final ever broadcast of the Faith Debate on WFMD. (We found out together, soon enough, if this proved to be the case.) So, just in case… there is mention of this during the final minutes of the show… giving thanks to all who helped The Faith Debate enjoy seventeen wonderful years on the radio up to that point. Everyone's support has been a true blessing.

Also, the Captivate software used for the RSS feed employed by Christian Podcast Community often allows the upload of video files, but other times does not. This is one of those "not" times. The full video (saved with the exact same title used for this audio file) is available on the Household of Faith in Christ portals on SermonAudio.com and Odysee.com.
.
This message titled "Reason to Rejoice" was shared by Pastor Troy Skinner when he was invited to share the gospel with Thurmont Church of the Brethren on a beautiful Sunday morning.
.
If you desire to skip ahead, the sermon begins at the 44:48 mark.
.
Note: Pastor Skinner was ill on September 4th, 2021, so this recording served as the Household of Faith in Christ audio/video upload for that weekend.

The Great Reset
Faith Debate: August 22nd, 2021
News Radio 930 WFMD in Frederick, Maryland
.
The Gospel Coalition, long held to be a conservative outlet for biblical Christianity, has come under fire for coming out in favor of several aspects of the liberal Great Reset. This episode of the Faith Debate picks up where the previous show left off in examining a TGC article that represents one example of this.

The panel:
Troy Skinner. Pastor of Household of Faith in Christ.

Can The Gospel Coalition Be Trusted?
Faith Debate: August 15th, 2021
News Radio 930 WFMD in Frederick, Maryland
.
Note: This episode originally had the title, "Can The Gospel Coalition Be Trusted or Not?".
.
For many years The Gospel Coalition had been a trusted resource for biblically conservative Christians. In recent years, however, there have been concerns raised that the organization has taken a turn that appears to support (or at least defend) what the Apostle Paul calls "another gospel". Is there evidence that these recent concerns are well founded?
