Look! Up in the sky!! Is it a bird? Is it a plane? Is it an automated robot sidekick taking the place of a comic book falcon? Well, yes it is and that robotic sidekick is here to help Sam Wilson A.K.A. The Falcon as he comes to terms with the world post-Blip. Oh, and Bucky is here too...
After 2020 set their project into an indefinite holding pattern, Disney and Marvel have come out of the gates swinging in 2021. With television projects like the acclaimed WandaVision leading the charge, their second Marvel TV outing had a lot to live up to. The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was brought to the small screen by Malcolm Spellman and featured many (if not all) writers of color to tell a nuanced story of the black experience not only in this fictional world of the MCU, but how real life experiences shape the lives of these fictional characters. The show also tackles the PTSD of Bucky Barnes as he tries to escape his past as The Winter Soldier through therapy and making amends, regardless of whether it's for the greater good or just to help ease his conscience. Did the show live up to the hype of a decade+ of Marvel movies and backstory? Did Julia Louis-Dreyfus make our gay hearts explode with her portrayal of the Contessa? Was Sharon Carter just a full blown Petty Mayonnaise by the end of the series? All of these questions and more are discussed as Flame ON! tackles The Falcon and the Winter Soldier!
