In this episode, we're still working within the framework of early feminism. Here, we detour slightly to examine another major response to feminism, namely the social gospel. Because Christianity was unequipped to answer the scientific and technological advancements of the Industrial Revolution, many Christian leaders felt that they needed advanced degrees to make Christianity competitive and intellectually appealing. So they went to Germany, but unfortunately discovered and then imported a defective form of Christianity that would become the basis for 19th Century Liberalism. This would be the foundation for the social gospel response to the Industrial Revolution, working conditions, and rising feminism of the day. We had some technical issues recording, so we're including the portion that covered the introduction.

Historically, he may have a point. But nuance is required as to what exactly is a Christian. With his comments, Christians have the bullseye placed directly on them. In this mobile edition of Notes from the Pulpit, I address a recent controversial post by Derrick Evans in which he states that women are too emotional to have the right to vote. This fits in perfectly with our last two main shows on feminism. I discuss how our views do not align with the pro-patriarchal movement that wants to abolish the 19th amendment. However, we do believe that the family should act as a unit, by consensus, including when they vote for a particular candidate. Controversial? Maybe. Necessary? Absolutely.

In this episode of Notes from the Pulpit, I offer a point of clarification on the relationship between Revelation, Scripture, and the Bible. Based on a comment from the latest FPP show (Unscripted), I wanted to make sure that I was clear on the Bible. Despite how often use Scripture and Bible interchangeably, there are some differences. Is it nuanced? Yes, but it's also historically important.
