Rita is put back in her dumpster and sent back into space, and the Rangers celebrate Tommy's return at the Youth Center. In this episode, Lord Zedd casts a spell on a trumpet borrowed by Curtis, a friend of the Power Rangers, to make them see illusions of previously defeated monsters. The Rangers, unaware of the spell, battle the hallucinations, while Bulk and Skull try to uncover their identities by making a cement cast of their footprints. Meanwhile, Zedd creates a new monster, Trumpet Top, which the Rangers must defeat to break the spell. With the help of their Thunderzords and Thunder Saber, the Rangers destroy Trumpet Top and shatter the illusion. Jason must face his fears and make a difficult decision to save his friends, ultimately defeating Pipebrain and restoring their powers. Tommy, still trapped in the Otherworld, faces off against TurbanShell and later Goldar, who tries to break his spirit by showing him footage of his past as the powerful Green Ranger. However, Tommy finds his inner strength and uses a time device to contact his past self and escape the Otherworld. He reunites with the other Rangers, who are still trapped in Lord Zedd's energy shield, and helps them regain contact with the Command Center. With the Green Crystal destroyed, the Dark Rangers return to normal, and the Rangers morph and summon the Thunder Megazord to battle TurbanShell. After a fierce fight, they finally defeat the monster using a combination of heat and cold attacks.
