One the most important races of the year is here, the UCI World Championships Men's Elite Road Race in Zurich, Switzerland. Mathieu van der Poel will be defending his title, but given the hilly course, the favorites are Tadej Pogačar and Remco Evenepoel. Evenepoel has the chance to do the double-double, winning gold in the ITT and road race at both the Olympics and the World Championships in the same season. The Vuelta a España is drawing to a close and we are taking stock of how many riders we have left (the answer is: not many). It has been an intriguing but brutal Grand Tour to cap off the summer. We've also got the Tour of Britain on tap with lots of young British talent showing out in their home race. Once the GC winners are crowned we will start prepping for a busy fall classics campaign that includes the European Championships!

Remco Evenepoel dominated the Olympics, but he will not be capping off his summer with a second Vuelta title. The prize fight will be between former teammates Roglič and Kuss, as well as a triumvirate of UAE climbers. The Olympics are the first big cycling event to follow up the Tour de France this year. After a rainy, but exciting, time trial we look ahead to the road race this weekend. The classics experts are favorites, but with limited team sizes and no race radios it should be a wide open competition for gold.
