The Farmville Baptist Church Podcast

Hello and welcome to worship with the Farmville Baptist congregation! This week, we continue to consider how God made us creatures of time and how he calls us as creatures of time to be part of his kingdom plan. Key to that is an understanding of the different qualities of time - chronos and kairos - and how God was, in Jesus, initiating a new sort of time. This is the second in our sermon series on living as creatures of time and using well the days, so we hope you will join us for more times of reflection on this theme over the next few weeks.

03:05 - Second Scripture Reading - Mark 1:14-20

Happy New Year! As we gathered for the first Sunday of 2024, our congregation began a period of reflection on what it means to live as creatures of time. We come to the end of the season of Advent at Farmville Baptist Church with a look at the Christmas story from a very different point of view. We're so glad you can join us for the season of Advent at Farmville Baptist Church and the Farmville Baptist Podcast! In worship on December 17, 2023, the congregation praised God together and heard more of the story of John the Baptist, who understood his whole identity as pointing towards Jesus. Welcome to the season of Advent at Farmville Baptist Church and the Farmville Baptist Podcast! On December 10, 2023, the congregation praised God together and listened to the words of Scripture from the prophet Isaiah and from the Gospel of Mark. Our pastor, Adam Tyler, invited us to consider the message of John the Baptist and how we might need to consider our own need for repentance as we prepare to celebrate Christmas and look forward to Christ's second coming. Additionally, the choir shared the beautiful anthem, "Carol for Advent."

Welcome to the season of Advent at Farmville Baptist Church and the Farmville Baptist Podcast! On December 3, 2023, the congregation gathered for a special worship service, The Hanging of the Greens, where we prepared the sanctuary to help us prepare spiritually for the important season of Advent. Our service incorporated a short homily at the beginning to guide our thoughts, eight Scripture readings, and several pieces of special music. We hope this worship experience will attune your spirit to the Spirit of God and help you begin the journey towards Christmas
