On today’s Podcast, I want to talk about the Gospel. When we read or listen to the Gospel, it’s important that we think about it. Every one of us needs to pray better. Prayer is our lifeline to God. Scripture can help us to pray better.

Mary and Joseph faced the difficult discovery that Jesus was not going along with them every step of the way. It is a real story of a family conflict and is symbolic of all kinds of relationships. Let's discuss how this feast relates to our 2019 families.  

Wednesday was the second day in the octave of Christmas. The Church celebrates the Feast of St. Stephen, the first Christian martyr. He died praying for his executioners. He was one of the seven deacons who helped the apostles and was "full of fortitude."

It's funny how a lunch invitation from a student I taught at Brother Rice in 1969 turned out. Ken Calvert asked me if I'd be interested in doing a podcast. I asked, "What's a podcast?" Well, 100 podcasts later, I'm a podcaster! Thank you and God Bless.

During the past two weeks we’ve read about two high profile suicides. One was a young television personality. The other was a gifted student and athlete. Decades ago, the Catholic Church placed severe restrictions regarding suicide. This has changed. Let me explain.

While it is true that many, many Catholics never really read the bible on their own, that is not the case for all Catholics. It is also not true that the Church discourages it! Saint Jerome said “Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of Christ.” Enjoy!

As we enter the second week of Advent, our thoughts should be turning more and more to the coming of Christ at Christmas. It's also important that we reflect on our actions for the good of humankind and for His Second Coming at the end of time.
