Welcome to Part 2 of the Gospel According to Cassie Vincitorio.

In Part 1 we explored Cassie's progression through junior sport and her desire to represent Australia in touch football. She shared her excitement at being selected into the Australian Squad to trial for the Australian touch football team. 

In Part two we find out about Cassie’s disappointment at not making the Australian side in her first two attempts and how she used that disappointment as a motivation to achieve her dream.

I was due to share the second part of Cassie Vincitorio's journey in sport today. But I have decided to leave that until next Friday (28 February). I hope Cassie won't mind!

Welcome to the Future Champions Podcast in this episode of the Gospel according to Cassie Vincitorio. 

This is meant to be the story of Cassie Vincitorio and her journey of representing Australia in Touch Football. But it is so much more than that. Cassie’s journey and her pursuit of representing Australia is inspiring. But for me, it is the relationship between Peter Feldman and his daughter Cassie that really shines through. 

Cassie grew up in a small Queensland town called Gayndah in a loving family with parents who were committed to providing their children with every opportunity possible. She immersed herself in a range of sports -  swimming, running, netball, football, cross country, triathlon and touch football. Touch football became the sport Cassie pursued into her adulthood.  

In April 2019, Cassie travelled to Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia with the mixed 30’s Australian Touch team to compete in the Touch World Cup, where they were crown world champions. 

This two part series is Cassie’s journey from junior elite sport to becoming a Queensland and Australian representative athlete. It is also the story of a loving father who did what ever he had to in order to give his children every opportunity for success. Including becoming a swimming coach, despite to being able to swim.

Robbie Borsboom has always loved Rugby League. At ten years of age he started playing for his school and only started playing for his local club, Hervey Bay Seagulls at the age of 12.   He is a tall and fast front rower. With only a few months playing for his club, he was identified to represent his region. 

In this episode of Future Champions, Robbie shares the progress of his journey in rugby league so far. His joy at representing his city, region and central Queensland. His identification by the Seagulls Academy and the Melbourne Storm Academy. It is a young man’s journey in pursuit of his dream, playing State of Origin.

In Part One, Warren shared his journey as a professional footballer - how his career was cut short due to a serious injury and then his return to Australia at Easts Football Club, where he started the next chapter in his football journey.

While coaching at Easts, Warren took on a football director role at the Anglican Church Grammar School. This exposed him to the world of Greater Public Schools - their passion, history, culture and rivalry. But more importantly their desire to develop young athletes into greater people.

This episode of Future Champions is dedicated to an amazing athlete from Toowoomba Queensland, Carter Blades.

At thirteen, Carter exploded onto the National Athletics scene and has already claimed two Australian Championships and two Queensland Championships. He also broke the under 13 and 14 Queensland 400m records .

This week I interviewed two-time World Champion Guy McLean. At the end of the interview Guy paid tribute to those impacted by the current bush fire crisis in Australia. Guy recited a poem he wrote about a severe bush fire that impacted Australia in 2003. The poem is based on a true story recounted to him. This poem is simply inspiring.
