We come to the penultimate episode in #Screamaween and our final discussion about an individual film when we tackle this year's latest release: SCREAM 6. Picking up with the survivors of Scream 5, this time relocated to the Big Apple, Scream 6 is one of the most character-centric installments in the entire franchise. We invited back to the show Jackson Harper, Vera Goudie, and Blake Collier to have a hearty and very lively discussion about why this rejuvenation of the franchise seems to be working so well and what makes its latest direction so interesting, even 6 installments in.
Also featuring a Patron-only segment where we all unpack our Halloween traditions, this is a very energetic conversation that we hope you all enjoy!

We're back with another installment in our spooky season's #Screamaween covering the film that acts as a soft reset for the franchise and its fifth entry: SCREAM (2022). Bringing back our old gang of characters and introducing us to a whole batch of fresh faces, this "requel" did the impossible by proving that that franchise had life left in it, even following the death of Wes Craven. We're joined by co-host of Horror, Sci-Fi, & Beyond Drew Pasanen as well as friend of the show Jackson Harper to dissect all of the sharp, clever, and fun ways this film reinvigorated the franchise for a new generation, including the fascinating things it has on its mind about legacy and fandom.
Also featuring a Patron-only segment discussing THE SIMPSONS Treehouse of Horror X, this is a hearty and fun conversation we really hope you'll enjoy.

We continue our run through #Screamaween with a revisiting stop through the fourth installment of the SCREAM franchise. Having first discussed this film as part of our Scares Us/Saves Us series in 2021, we invite some new voices to the conversation: Foreign Correspondent and Quarterly Queen Vera Goudie as well as long-time friend and first-time guest Denise Smith.
Scream 4 unveils itself (surprisingly) to be one of the most solidly constructed and intuitively thematic entries in the franchise, forecasting the troublesome way our lives broadcast on the internet would change our perceptions of ourselves and the world around us. Also featuring a Patron-only segment about The Simpsons, Treehouse of Horror IX, this is a hearty and thoughtful conversation that we really hope you enjoy.

We have a special little bonus for you guys today! Nathan recently got the opportunity to sit down with friend of the show and President of Van Ryder Games AJ Porfirio to discuss the third series of their landmark, megahit game FINAL GIRL. They dig into lots of behind the scenes details about the production and development of the latest series as well as some thoughts on why board gaming has recently hit a renaissance.
The Kickstarter for Final Girl Series 3 ends on Friday, October 13th so head over there to back the project if you haven't yet and enjoy this insightful interview!

We continue our spooky season franchise run with SCREAM 3, originally conceived as a potential definitive conclusion to a trilogy of Scream films. Beset by creative missteps and haunted by cultural pressures to tone down the violence, Scream 3 lands as far more comedic than either of its predecessors and feels the least cohesive of any in the franchise. It does have its charms, particularly in some of its outrageous new characters and the ever-present affection for its surviving returning characters. But on the whole, Scream 3 would come to be known as where the series begins to slide off the edge of the proverbial knife.
We're joined by Gorey Gamer Matt Murray and Quarterly King Andy Whitfield to have a whole lot of fun discussing one of the wildest entries in this franchise. Also featuring a Patron-only segment about The Simpsons Treehouse of Horror VIII, this is a brisk and funny conversation that we really hope you enjoy.

#Screamaween is in full sway and we're trekking through our college years by covering the sequel to the meta-smash and mega-smash hit from Wes Craven: SCREAM 2. We're joined by friend of the show, author, and pastor JR Forasteros as well as our resident Gorey Gamer Matt Murray for a deep dive into all the good, the bad, and the clunky in this briskly paced but erratic follow up to Scream. Behind the scenes mishaps, evolutions of the original's humor and suspense, and the interesting way this sequel -- somewhat accidentally -- engages the ideas of the masks we all wear.

It's Spooky Season here at the Fear of God and we're following a tradition established last year where every September/October we march through an iconic horror franchise, covering each installment in depth. This year we present #Screamaween! Yes indeed, we like scary movies and we are marching through the Scream franchise one at a time to cover the kills, the frights, the rules, the callouts, and the memories we'll make along the way.
Since we already covered the original Scream on the show, we invited some powerhouse guests for this Redux conversation: friends of the show Matt Ruff (author of Lovecraft Country and Destroyer of Worlds) and Brandon Grafius (professor and author of Lurking Under the Surface) join us to discuss how well this film still holds up under the light of today's sensibilities and to unpack its iconic legacy in greater depth.
Also featuring a Patron-only segment where Nathan and Reed breakdown the joys and laughs of The Simpsons, Treehouse of Horror VI, this is a really thoughtful and fascinating discussion that we're all very, very proud of. We hope you enjoy it and we look forward to starting this spooky season journey with all of you! "Do you like scary movies...?"

Before we venture into our official Spooky Season, we have a prelude of sorts featuring a film that Reed has been wanting to discuss for years. We have another official #LackeyLeftover with 1981's DARK NIGHT OF THE SCARECROW. Broadly considered to be one of the greatest made for television horror films of all time, Dark Night of the Scarecrow is deceptively simple but very tightly constructed. It leverages minimalism in both narrative and style to tell a powerful story about men who carried out vigilante violence on an innocent man and the ways their choices haunt and destroy them.
Featuring a stellar cast of character veterans, an impressive script, and excellently crafted suspense sequences, Dark Night of the Scarecrow is a powerfully effective film that delivers thoughtful chills with impressive resonance. Also featuring a Patron-only segment where Nathan attempts to #StumpReed, this is a great conversation about a great film and we hope you enjoy it!

Taking a break from our series format, we're excited to bring you another #FoGgoweener: one-off episodes based on media that was recommended to us by our Patrons during our annual FoGgoween party. This week's entry is the indie vampire road movie, STAKE LAND, recommended to us by Continuity Guru Steve Beckley, who also guests with us for the conversation.
Stake Land takes a melancholy and thoughtful approach to its subject, delivering an occasionally horrific and just as often profound exploration of how both civilization and individuals change when the societal structures break down. It's also impressively insightful in its handling of politics, religion, violence, and hope, making it a real hidden gem for fans of our show.
Also featuring a Patron-only segment of Whatchas, this is an energizing conversation that we really hope you enjoy.
