Today I would like to honor all our servants, from the greeters, logistics, intercessory, connectors, music and dance, multimedia, finance, creative, training, kids and liturgy, media, including our boys and Bro. Bobby.   Many if not most of them do not live in palatial houses, nor drive flashy cars, nor have fat bank accounts, or huge investment in stock markets, nor hold a master's degree, nor occupy high-ranking posts in multinational corporations. They simply serve God and His people. Some wake up early in the morning to be in the venue to make sure that bulletins are collated, sound system is working, and chairs are arranged properly. Others spend nights rehearsing songs and dance numbers, cutting styrofoam for stage designs, and having coffee talks with new-comers. I can go on and on and on enumerating the services they give. In the eyes of the world, greatness is defined by achievements, wealth, and power. But, in the eyes of God, greatness is sacrifice, selflessness, and service. In whose eyes do you want to be great? During the Christmas season, I had a stiff neck that lasted for about four days. It’s because my son, Gregory, loves to sleep in between Viv and myself.   One night, the aircon was a little too cold for him; so, he snuggled towards my left arm, and I was pushed to the edge of the bed. So, I had to sleep on my left hand while figuring out a way to not completely fall off.   It was painful, and I could barely move my shoulder and neck in any direction, and especially when I had to do rotations. I felt my shoulder and muscles sore because they were tightly engaged while I tried to sleep.   However, after a few days of pain, I felt relief when my muscles relaxed.   Let me connect this message to the pain of life: if you’re pushed to the edge because of your problems, and your stress has been causing you extra pain in different areas of your body, then this is a recipe for a miserable life.   What’s the solution? His name is Jesus.   God can give the ultimate peace in life. He can also free you from the pain of your suffering.   Jesus is your healer, savior, and King. He’s got you covered, so don’t be afraid anymore.   God is setting you free!  The best is yet to come, JPaul Hernandez

While at the Feast Builder’s retreat, I was walking in the main corridor of the retreat house, and I saw three of my Feast Builder Brothers gathered in a circle, talking very quietly. I went up to them and said, “Hey bros, you look like fraternity brothers planning on hitting someone who wronged you. If you need help, I’m ready to resbak.”   We all laughed, and they shared that one of our Builder brothers was having some difficulties with the leaders under him, and then he’s also going through some personal trials. They were advising on what he could do, and how he can deal with the problems at hand.   We’re preachers and servant-leaders, which means we try our best to be good people who refrain from violence, but what you can’t remove from us is the instinct to protect each other, even if we’re not the best of friends.   We do this because we’re on the same mission. Our friendship is purposeful. We’ll always be there for each other. That’s how Brother Bo Sanchez created our culture in the Light Of Jesus Family, and I’m grateful to be part of this movement.   If us, imperfect leaders will go out of our way to help each other, imagine what our perfect God will to help you in your trials.   If you are going through problems right now, your loved ones can only give you limited help because they are human, and people are bound by physics, time, resources, and mortality.   Guess what: God is unlimited and unbounded. He can turn your problems around. Trust in Him.   God has the last say, and everything will be great!   The best is yet to come,   JPaul Hernandez

Reset Your Life! I believe that every morning, God gives you an opportunity to press the reset button of your life. Especially now as we start a new year––and a new decade! Let go of the past. Start anew! You may have lost some battles in 2019, but that’s only from a short-term context. God never thinks in that way, and if we want to follow Him, we must learn how He thinks. God always thinks long-term. And from the long-term context, you already won. This 2020, will you be the good guy or will you be the bad guy? Warning: In the short term, bad guys win. We all sacrifice.   Let me give you an example.  One day, even if it was hot, I ditched the car and walked on the road because I wanted to add to my 10,000-steps.  At least on that day, I sacrificed my comfort for my health.   Sometimes, I’m a good boy, but sometimes, I’m not.  Because there are days when I sacrifice my health for halo-halo, especially if there is leche flan inside, plus two scoops of Ube ice cream on top of it.
