Are you overthinking?

A lot of people are.  Crisis or no crisis, worry has always been a huge problem.  But this pandemic multiplied our worries through the roof.  It’s ironic, because our bodies weren’t designed to handle persistent overthinking over the long-term.  So many don’t get sick because of the virus, we get sick because of worry over the virus.

But Jesus says, “Life is more than what you see”.  Life is bigger than your problems. God is bigger than your problems.

Surrender.Trust.Worship.

Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, Twitter… these are just some of the ways on how we connect to the world. And we love it when people like our posts or write comments or even sent us heart emoticons. There is nothing wrong with it however there are people who used these platforms to validate their self-worth and identity. Yes, receiving a hundred likes may give us joy and make us feel worthy and loved but at the end of the day, it leaves us empty. Because it only fills up our emotional hunger but not our spiritual hunger. Deep in our spirits, we only want one thing: Real Love.

Five months ago, we dove into the Gospel of Matthew where we saw King Jesus announce His new Kingdom.  And just last month, we started working on the Sermon of the Mount, where King Jesus welcomed the powerless of society as His VIPs.

In this Sermon, Jesus peeled away the outer wrapping of six specific laws to expose God’s heart.  The laws against (1) murder, (2) adultery, (3) divorce, (4) oaths, (5) revenge, and (6) hating your enemies.

All these laws are about human relationships.  More than anything else, God values our relationships.

Today we will focus on the laws about adultery and divorce. 

Believe me, it’s explosive.  

Whether you’re married or separated or remarried or widowed or single, God will speak to you today.

Question: Have you ever encountered a snake in your life? What was your initial reaction?

Correct me if I’m wrong but my guess is that you usually don’t think about what you’ll do tomorrow, or next week, or the following month. You don’t think about the future, period. Because all you think about is how to get away from that snake now. That’s what happens in a crisis. And today, our snake is a huge COVID19 crisis. And a lot of people who are afraid don’t think about their future. But that’s precisely what I want you to do today, despite the crisis.

You must create a future for your future.

Speak good stuff into your future!

For today, we’re going to have a special talk because I believe   God wants to speak directly to the crisis we’re in right now.

A lot may have changed but the love of God remains the same. And as we slowly unwrap the Gospel of Matthew we will learn of this love. As Christians, we are taught to follow God and for most of us, we do what we need to do out of obligation and fear. Now that we are in the middle of a crisis, maybe some have returned back to God out of hopelessness. In other words, our love is mostly conditional. But you know what? The love of God is unconditional. And once you are able to grasp this truth you will have that desire to love Him back. Not because you have to, but because you want to.

This miracle is what we’re going to talk about today.

Our big message today: LOVE IS THE HEART OF GOD'S LAW

LENT DAY 35: It's Holy Monday! We continue to learn about God as our protector. Trust that in every situation, He has a purpose. In every breaking, there is a blessing. He will not let you come out of the situation without teaching you anything. Similarly, this pandemic may be leaving us helpless, but believe that in all these, God is embracing us.
