My guest today, Melissa Christian, is their Vice President of Global Brand and Category Marketing, and she is particularly passionate about helping and supporting young female athletes. As we talk, she describes her research that shows that by the age of 14, girls drop out of sports at two times the rate of boys. To change that trajectory, Dick's is currently undertaking many initiatives to support female athletes and help them succeed. Today, Matt McCrane, NFL placekicker with past positions including with the Cleveland Browns, Oakland Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Arizona Cardinals, joins me on the Steelcast. Always an athlete, Matt started off playing soccer as a young boy and then moved to football in high school. As a high school junior, he filled in as the kicker when the varsity player was out for a game.....and after nailing a 52 yard kick... the rest is history! 

He went on to play for many teams in the NFL including the Arizona Cardinals, Oakland Raiders, Pittsburgh Steelers, and the Philadelphia Eagles. He also had a short stint in the XFL playing for the New York Guardians.

How has he achieved so much?

By controlling his mindset!
