The Festival Rules

Sundance 2020 is history but first, Josh & Ben want to give their own awards to the best films and performances they saw in Park City this year. Plus Julia Louis-Dreyfus talks about her very Sundance-appropriate debut, the snow-set comedy "Downhill".

Both Carey Mulligan and Bo Burnham have had memorable Sundance success stories in their past but now they can add the debut of "Promising Young Woman" to the list. Josh chats with both about their darkly comic film. Plus, Ben meets two of the upcoming stars of "Beast Beast".

As much as Sundance is about discovery, it's also a place for reinvention and evolution. That's precisely how to describe what Alison Brie is up to by producing and co-writing her very personal new film, "Horse Girl". Plus Alison discusses her upcoming holiday romantic comedy with Kristen Stewart! Finally, Josh catches up with one of his favorite actors making his Sundance debut, Ben Whishaw. They talk Ben's new film "Surge", plus what we can expect from Daniel Craig's final James Bond film, "No Time To Die".

Aubrey Plaza & Sarah Gadot are Sundance veterans, but it's safe to say they've never been in a film like "Black Bear". The duo join Ben and Josh to discuss their meta black comedy and Aubrey's plans to play Catwoman someday. Plus, Josh catches up with "Spree" star Joe Keery to talk "Stranger Things" and his budding friendship with Drake.

The news of the Kobe Bryant tragedy is touching us all, even in Park City. Josh and Ben reflect on Kobe's legacy and how his life and sensibilities were in keeping with the artistic community of Sundance. Plus Ben chats with Nicholas Braun about Kobe and the new film, "Zola"

Sundance is all about variety and this episode of The Festival Rules definitely embodies that. We start with a hilarious conversation with the stars of "Palm Springs", Andy Samberg & Cristin Milioti (plus an awesomely unexpected moment with Robert Redford. Kinda.). Then Josh & especially Ben try to recover from an emotional screening of "Wander Darkly" to talk to the stars, Sienna Miller & Diego Luna, plus writer/director Tara Miele.

Sundance 2020 is in full swing and this episode proves it. Josh & Ben catch up with director Ron Howard who is making his Sundance debut with "Rebuilding Paradise". Later in the show, Ben catches up with the one and only Alec Baldwin who is attending in support of a film he produced, "Beast Beast", alongside director Danny Madden.

When you've been coming to the Sundance Film Festival for nearly 20 years, you can be called Sundance Royalty. And that's what Joseph Gordon-Levitt is. The actor/director and creator of HitRecord joins Josh and Ben to talk about his memorable Sundance moments, the joy of collaboration, and his upcoming return to directing.
