The Fight for Bodily Autonomy in the Disability Community

Reproductive justice for disabled folx means “making sure that people have the right to make decisions about their bodies and their families and their futures,” says Ma’ayan Anafi, Senior Counsel for Health Equity and Justice at the National Women’s Law Center.
Today, Ma’ayan Anafi and DC-based disability lawyer Marissa Ditwkowsky join host Ali Muldrow to talk about the intersection of disability and reproductive justice.
Topics include how the overturning of Roe v. Wade has affected the work of disability advocacy, forced sterilization of disabled people in the United States, guardianships and conservatorships, the right to parent, and more.
Ma’ayan Anafi is Senior Counsel for Health Equity and Justice at National Women’s Law Center. They are the author of a new report about the forced sterilization of disabled people in the United States.
Marissa Ditkowsky is a staff attorney based in Washington, DC who works with low-income DC residents with disabilities facing debt. She is also a member of the Disability Rights Bar Association and an outgoing leader of the National Disabled Law Students Association.
