Al Green's 1972 album I'm Still In Love With You is a great example of a classic soul record. Filled with sensual love songs and great rhythm, it offers a huge variety for the soul music fan.

The Monkees' third album, Headquarters was a turning point in the band's career. Up until this point they weren't permitted to play their instruments on recordings. Instead, they hired session musicians to record the basic tracks, and the members of the Monkees were only required to lay down the vocal tracks. This was because they were merely seen as a cast of TV show, playing a band. They weren't a "real" band. But Headquarters was their chance to prove to the world and themselves that yes, in fact they could play their instruments, even if some of the members of the band were still learning.

Little Richard's debut album Here's Little Richard set the blueprint for Rock N Roll. Influencing a number of artists including The Beatles, Rod Stewart, Paul Rodgers, and a slew of others. Along with other artists, a sea change in the musical landscape came. For the first time white audiences were allowing themselves to discover black artists, and Little Richard was at the forefront of that cultural shift.

In the premiere episode of The Final Mix, I take a look at The Colour of Spring by Talk Talk. Definitely an album I wasn't expecting to like as much as I did. I'm not a huge fan of music from the 1980s, so it was a surprise when I really connected with a few of the songs. A great album through and through!
