As Jesus was heading into His last moments on earth, He pauses to spend time with God in prayer. In John 17, we find Him praying for his disciples, and the believers who would come after them. He did not pray to keep them safe from hardships, build big churches, or even to become great communicators. Instead, He asks His Father to unify all his followers with the same closeness that He and God had. Somewhere along the way, Christians have lost this and have become deeply divided. What if the answer for unity among believers is right there in Jesus’ prayer?
