-Juanita Dawn (Puppet maker, manipulator and storyteller, Long Grass Studio)
"The imaginative braiding of sound, song and story. My Heart is Train took me on a (very welcome) trip. I was there. On the train. Jolene Higgins is uniquely positioned to deliver on the promise of a hugely pleasurable listening experience."
-Shelagh Rogers (The Next Chapter, CBC Radio)
“It’s a beauty! Very well paced, as they say. Very intimate and engaging and yet also somehow nicely light. And having all that music doesn’t hurt either.”
John Scoles (President/Janitor, Times Change(d): The High & Lonesome Club)
A romantic adventure in the form of a poetically-recited radio play, My Heart Is A Train takes listeners on a musical wander through a work of fiction. Jolene Higgins (a.k.a Little Miss Higgins) wrote the story which weaves an audio drama together with her 2013 JUNO nominated live-off-the-floor album Bison Ranch Recording Sessions. The main character, a small town Saskatchewan painter, untangles romantic memories through prose as she remembers making her way from honky tonk to dive bar. Once on the homebound train, she finds herself swept up in the dining car with two East-coast women who can read her emotions like a book and provide a remedy.
