  • Episode 8: South Central Mujer Chronicles - Navigating Teen Pregnancy, Overcoming Violence, and Breaking Generational Cycles

✨In this episode, I got to interview the one and only Alondra Palacio. Alondra is a walking embodiment of a South Central native mujer. She is the daughter of Mexican immigrants. She attended John C Fremont High School, became a teen mom, overcame domestic violence, and was able to be part of the 2% of teen moms that earn their college before the age of 30. And this is just the surface. Alondra is passionate about helping other women gain their freedom from domestic violence. She identifies herself as an advocate for marginalized women.

✨I hope as you listen to Alondra's story, part of her life resonates with you and others inspire you. When I think of Alondra, I think of the tenacity and resilience many South Central women carry. Even with the lack of resources and guidance, Alondra made it happen.

  • Episode 7: Practicing Self-Care while Achieving Financial Freedom

In this episode, I had the pleasure of interviewing Rita-Soledad Fernández Paulino, CEO and Founder of Wealth Para Todos, Money and Self-Care Coach. Soledad talks about the barriers they had to overcome as a Queer Mexican-American growing up in Los Angeles, their devotion to self-care, breaking stereotypes as a mother and woman, and their financial journey that led them to become a content creator and businesswoman.

She is a former math teacher turned self-care & money coach. As the CEO of Wealth Para Todos Soledad is determined to make sure more BIPOC, women, and LGBTQ+ folk learn how to self-care themselves to financial independence so they can work because they want to, not because they have to. Through their weekly newsletter and engaging social media content on Instagram, Threads and LinkedIn, they teach people how to create and follow a financial plan that prioritizes self-care and puts them on track to becoming work optional.

I hope you enjoy listening to all the gems Soledad shares with us.

  • Episode 6: Reparenting yourself as a First-Gen Business Owner

In this episode, I delve into the crucial importance of reparenting yourself as a first-generation business owner. Wait, what? Many of us grew up without receiving guidance on navigating emotions or cultivating self-confidence. However, being a business owner necessitates profound self-assurance in your abilities, your venture, your mission, and more. Reparenting yourself emerges as a vital tool for achieving entrepreneurial success. My personal journey of learning how to reparent myself has not only allowed me to embrace these principles but has also empowered me to take conscious and impactful actions within my businesses.

  • Episode 5: Learning to embrace change as a business owner

As a first-gen business owner one thing that I have learned is change is inevitable and it happens faster than you think. I used to be scared of change because as a Latina, I was taught that change meant you couldn’t keep your word. As I became a business owner I realized that going against change was actually limiting myself from better opportunities, from prioritizing myself, and bettering my craft. In this episode, I talk about some of the changes that I am doing in my food business and how I self-coach during the process.

  • Overcoming Intimate Partner Violence by Age 22

In this episode, my sister Ana Ortega talks to us about her experience with intimate partner violence during her teen years and how she overcame the abuse by age 22. Relationships and dating are still a taboo topic in many Latinx households. The lack of these conversations causes many to be trapped in relationships that are full of emotional, physical, and even sexual abuse. Ana shares the ins and outs of her experience with domestic violence as a child, her relationship, and her healing journey.

  • 1. From Resenting Money to Embracing Entrepreneurship

Despite being born into an entrepreneurial family, I never saw myself being capable of becoming a businesswoman. The different financial views of my parents and the constant economic instability affected how I saw and felt about money. After a family emergency in 2018, I realized the impact money had on my future. That was when I decided I was going to take control of my finances and start increasing my income through entrepreneurship.
