In the book of Revelation, Jesus encouraged the church in Efesus to return to their first love. A lot of o people have made the assumption that doing so means striving to love God more, but the truth is that the first love always comes from the Father. We can only love Him, because He first loved us. Our part is to receive His self-giving love with an open heart. In other words, returning to our first love means to constantly be receiving the love of the Father with an open heart.
