Upon taking up a new hobby and learning a new skillset, it's important to have specific standards of operating. For example, I establish clear standards for my clients around proper technique in the gym and all that is entailed to get results in a timely manner. I help them understand exercise order, sets, reps, rest periods, lifting tempo, and how to control the intensity of their workouts. 

I give them feedback on technique in person and for exercise videos they send me. We don't cut corners around here. The pursuit of improvement starts by making an effort to do it right, every time. Thanks for listening!

I've been using isometric exercises for my own hip pain rehab as well as including them in my clients' training programs with great results. They have been a game changer, especially for people who don't have access to a lot of equipment. In this episode I discuss ideas around how to include isometric exercises in your own workouts.

Life in Alaska poses many challenges, especially during the winter season. We experience months of cold weather, heavy snowfall and long, dark days from mid-October to late-April. Instead of hibernating on my couch, I've learned to embrace the cold and darkness by getting out in it as much as I can.
