It’s the start of Season 6 (OK, so Brian kind of unilaterally declared it to be Season 6). Galen’s back from a week in Germany, Brian’s back from a week in Vermont. They talk about German beer and what the tailgating parties for an NFL team in Vermont would be like.

The boys talk about the ongoing Jemele Hill story and the representation of Latinos in the media. They also break down the best cure for a chest cold, 1980s movie sequels, the difference between a cheeseburger and a cheeseburger sub, and their favorite breakfast cereals. The main topic, such as it is, looks at whether or not the Colts and Bills are truly bad franchises or not.

The Flip Side’s intermittent summer schedule continues, but this is a good one.

In 2016, the website Food Republic published a chart purporting to rank all styles of french fries from best to worst.

The list is, to say it bluntly, ridiculous.

Galen and Brian break down all the ways the list is wrong and talk about why you can’t separate a french fry from where it’s made.

The band is back together, and trying some new things. This episode streamed live, but Brian’s computer was temperamental, which led to all sorts of technical shenanigans at the start.

It’s the Season 4 finale, and the boys start out with their biggest disagreement yet — over the merits of pancakes, waffles, and French Toast (Brian’s note, since I write the show notes: Galen is SO wrong on this) and have a wonderful debate over the epistemology of breakfast. They also answer some really important questions: Why do people store things in their ovens? What is the most depressing meat to eat? What 1990s show will be rebooted as the next terrible movie? What, in god’s name, is Pickle Loaf? Who will be our Cousin Oliver?
