Having spent a lifetime in the Church, Dallas Jenkins realized what many of us have also admitted: movies and mini-series about the life of Jesus are often limited, cheesy, or a combination of both. But instead of accepting that reality, Dallas forged a new one— resulting in the very first multi-season show about the life of Jesus, The Chosen.

For over 20 years, God has stationed Free Methodist missionary Gerry McNamara in the country of Hungary. Today, Gerry joins us to talk about the current work of the churches, the reality of pastoral burnout, and the hope of Jesus in the midst of our world.

(I apologize for the sound quality in this episode, causing Gerry’s voice to be much quieter than my own. There was a setting that I didn’t realize was on until it was time to post the episode. We will make sure this is fixed moving forward!)

How do we take part in breaking the harmful cycles that have surfaced in others’ lives? Is there any purpose to engaging “psychological healing,” or should we just focus on the spiritual? Is it possible to address Jesus in someone’s life, yet leave out any physical or emotional healings they may need? Kim Roth, urban missionary to Rochester NY, joins us to talk about all of this and more!
