(Smoke was admirably tight-lipped about the numerous breaches of protocol that took place in the family's absence. I'm sure someday Maria will discover the scratches on the dining table that Smoke and I covered up with a lovely floral centerpiece, but by then I'll be in the wind and Smoke can fend for herself. Bad Co-Host, bad! )
