Kevin and Steven talk about one of the most overlooked elements in movies, the use of lighting. Lighting is a very subtle quality in a film that not a lot of people pay attention to, but it really affects the movie experience. One of the most groundbreaking uses of lighting in a movie is in 2001: A Space Odyssey, directed by Stanley Kubrick. In this episode, we are going to talk about that film, the technical aspects of how certain lighting effects were achieved, and what certain uses of lighting in key scenes could mean from a storytelling point-of-view.
