Sheryl has been a professional communicator all of her career—in corporate, agency and
nonprofit arenas. Her areas of expertise include media relations, executive
communications, speech writing, event planning, brand management, marketing
communications, issues-crisis management, strategic planning and more. Sheryl is an
award-winning communicator and founder of Righteous PR—an agency focused on
virtuous communication that uplifts, edifies and promotes a brand with heart, soul and
good taste. It is Public Relations with a higher purpose.
Prior to public relations agency ownership, Sheryl held several leadership roles,
including numerous communications roles of increasing responsibilities at Verizon and
its legacy company GTE for over 8 years, Verizon Wireless where she spent 15 years as a
Public Relations Executive for the Company’s South Area, a Vice President at Cookerly
PR and an Executive Communications Officer for a non-profit organization, National
CASA.
In addition to mentoring and managing her own philanthropic effort, The Sellaway
Fund, Sheryl has always been active in the community and serves on several boards
including, the Shepherd Center. She is a member of the Leadership Atlanta Class of
2007. Sheryl is author of the book, Praising You Changes Me: A Business Traveler’s
Divine Moments on the Road.
Sheryl holds an MBA from Amber University in Dallas, TX and a Bachelor of Arts degree
in Communications and Journalism from Georgia State University. She is a member of
First Baptist Church Atlanta and serves as Director of her Sunday School class.
