La statunitense Jan Groover è una fotografa che ha avuto diversi meriti: i suoi scatti, alla fine degli anni settanta del secolo scorso sono stati considerati vere e proprie opere d'arte iniziando, assieme alla attività di altri fotografi dell' epoca, a far considerare la fotografia non opera artigianale ma, appunto, artistica (con relativo mercato e cioè che ne consegue).La tematica delle foto della Groover cambiò negli anni ma si può affermare che le nature morte in cui sono raffigurate posate e attrezzi da cucina, dapprima colorati e, successivamente monocromi, siano, con la loro forte carica di astrazione, i risultati più interessanti.La fotografa, lavorando molto in studio, è stata sempre molto attenta agli elementi di forma e ai particolari di composizione, caratteristiche che le derivavano dalla sua iniziale attività di pittrice.Conoscere la opera della Groover può essere stimolo a vedere anche gli oggetti del nostro quotidiano con un occhio diverso e, perchè no, più sognante.(Foto © Jan Groover)
