Our speaker today is Kelvin Teo, Co-founder & Group CEO of Funding Societies.
Kelvin would like us to know that he is not the Kelvin Teo on Wikipedia, who is also a Malaysian, management consultant and entrepreneur, but won a reality dating show "Love Me Do". Kelvin survived in Brazil with no money, card and friends, because he found out at the boarding gate that he needed a visa to transit in Canada.
Kelvin did taekwondo and sparring when he was young, because he came from a public school in Malaysia with gangsters. Now, he would just run.
The founding of Funding Societies was an accident, because neither Kelvin nor his co-founder Reynold were planning a start-up. Their venture was sparked by a mixture of inspiration and frustration, influenced by what he calls the PayPal mafia. Today, Funding Societies is the largest digital finance platform for SMEs in Southeast Asia.
He shares some amazing insights from his entrepreneurial journey in a free-wheeling talk titled The Harvard founder who did the opposite of what he learned
