  • From Washington: A Look Back As We Push Forward
This week we look back at two intriguing interviews from the past year.
Since the U.S. withdrawal from Afghanistan in August of 2021, the Taliban has completely overthrown the Afghan government. President Biden insisted the fall of Kabul was unanticipated but reports later revealed a diplomatic dissent cable was sent to the Secretary of State warning about the Taliban's advance. Representative Peter Meijer (R-MI) predicts future outcomes for the relationship between the United States and Afghanistan.
In November of 2021, in a party-line vote, House lawmakers voted to approve the two-trillion-dollar social and climate spending package following months of negotiations. President Biden and Democratic lawmakers say the passing of the infrastructure and spending plan will help combat inflation. Jared spoke with former Economics Adviser to President Obama, Austan Goolsbee about the state of inflation in the U.S. and if he's optimistic it will go down.

  • 2021 Was No Laughing Matter, But Jimmy Failla Manages to Find Some
After a year like 2021, we could all use a chuckle. While we did see things reopen last spring and many of us got a sense of normalcy again, the last few weeks have been pretty rough. Jimmy Failla, comedian, and host of FOX Across America, looks back at the past year, the stories we could laugh about, and why he is optimistic about 2022. Failla also discusses "Cancel Culture" and why he thinks the future is bright for free expression.
One of the biggest political stories of the year was Virginia’s hotly contested gubernatorial election. Glenn Youngkin, the once seemingly unknown Republican businessman, would eventually go on to defeat Democratic candidate and former Governor Terry McAuliffe. Youngkin joined host Mike Emanuel on the Rundown just a few weeks before Election Day to discuss the key issues in that race, including education-- and more specifically, critical race theory. His focus on the topic of education, many believe, catapulted him to victory and gave Republicans a potential roadmap to big wins in next year's midterm elections. Today, on the Rundown we look back at our interview with Youngkin from October 4th, when he was still behind in the polls but gaining steam.
Plus, commentary by author and vice president of communications for Focus on The Family, Paul Batura.

A trend fueled by billionaire entrepreneurs like Blue Origin’s Jeff Bezos, Virgin Galactic’s Richard Branson and Space X’s Elon Musk, who all successfully launched rockets this past year. Rising crime in many cities has been a big issue all year. Politicians and media pundits spent the year arguing over what was driving the problem and how it could be resolved. There was debate over defunding the police, reforming the criminal justice system, and other strategies to make our cities safer. But not much progress was made.
