  • FOX News Rundown EXTRA: Mike Rowe Unedited
While the job market in the U.S. is looking more promising as the latest weekly jobless claims hit their lowest level since September 1969, there remains an ongoing concern about the country's labor shortage.
Currently, there are 11 million job openings and employers across the country say they can't recruit people to work. Yet millions of Americans remain unemployed.
On The FOX News Rundown earlier this week, Lisa Brady spoke to Mike Rowe, host of 'Dirty Jobs', about what the labor shortage in the U.S. says about the direction of work culture in this country and why we do not do enough to celebrate the blue-collar worker.
Rowe gave his thoughts on the state of the country's labor market and explained why he thinks it is important his show gives a spotlight to Americans doing difficult, essential work.
The original interview was too long and we couldn't include all of it in our segment. On The FOX News Rundown EXTRA, you will hear our entire conversation with Mike Rowe and hear more of his take on the job market and his many projects, including his hit new song, "Santa's Gotta Dirty Job".

Over about the first year of the Coronavirus pandemic, from last April to this April, more than a 100,000 Americans died of a drug overdose, according to Centers For Disease Control. That is up nearly 29% from just the year before.
State and local governments are making efforts to curb those deaths, including New York City's recent opening of overdose prevention centers, but some addiction advocates say not enough is being done.
On The FOX News Rundown earlier this week, host Chris Foster spoke to Brittany Adams-Kelly, whose brother Matt died in 2017 from an overdose.
Brittany Adams-Kelly discussed her brother's story, what the families of addicts can learn from it and what can be done to address America's growing overdose crisis.
The original interview was too long and we couldn't include all of it in our segment. On The FOX News Rundown EXTRA, you will hear our entire conversation with Brittany Adams-Kelly and hear more of her incredible story and why the foundation she co-founded is so focused on harm reduction.

  • The Cost Of Cutting Ties With China
On Monday, December 6th the United States announced no government official would attend the Winter Olympics in Beijing, citing China's human rights violations against the Uighur Muslims as the main concern. Just days later, China called this a smear campaign as Australia, Canada, and the UK announced they too would join this diplomatic boycott of the Beijing Olympics. Charles Payne, Host of Making Money With Charles Payne on Fox Business Network joins to discuss how the U.S. diplomatic boycott has spurred China to test its influence over corporate America, why it is important the Biden administration take a stance against China, and what economic repercussions there could be for these actions.

Omicron keeps spreading. The variant is now confirmed in more than 20 states and 60 countries and it is believed to be more contagious than past strands. But there is reason for optimism. Early research suggests it is less severe than the Delta variant and Pfizer believes a booster shot of its vaccine will offer protection. Dr. Marty Makary, Professor at Johns Hopkins University and the author of "The Price We Pay", discusses why it's possible there could be an upside to Omicron spreading so easily and he weighs in on the debate over mask and vaccine mandates.
