To get us started this year, we're kicking off with one of our special two-part episodes, as the hotly anticipated Framestore Launchpad Internship is now taking applications for our programmes in London, Montreal, Vancouver, New York, Chicago and Los Angeles.

To celebrate the impact of the Launchpad Internship we invite three former interns to the pod to discuss their experience on the programme, how it has impacted their career and of course have them take on the 'Framestore Podcast Dailies' questions! 

Tanisha Nagevadia became a part of the Launchpad Internship in the summer of 2022, immediately following her graduation from Bournemouth University. After a successful internship, she transitioned into the role as a Junior Previs Artist in FPS. Currently, she is actively contributing to three major shows.

In the summer of 2022, Alex Rabbitt also joined the Launchpad Internship, having previously worked as a Sailing Instructor and freelance photographer. Post his Launchpad experience, Alex swiftly secured a position as a Framestore Environments Artist. Shortly after, in September of the same year, he transitioned into a TD role, and since then has earned credits on notable projects such as Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 and the highly anticipated Civil War, directed by Alex Garland.

Christian Morales Malaver, having initially worked as a 3D Generalist in the Colombia real estate industry, joined the Launchpad Internship in the summer of 2019. Following his internship, he worked as a 3D Artist for VFX studio BUF, returning to Framestore after four months, assuming the role of LookDev & Lighting TD. To date, he has contributed to various projects, including Jingle Jangle, The Suicide Squad, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, Slumberland, 1899, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Wonka, and this year's The Fall Guy.

As we begin to close out 2023, and celebrate our first full year of podcasting, we felt it was fitting to cast our minds back across the last 12 months and relive some of the highlights in two special ‘gift wrapped’ episodes for your listening pleasure, just in time for the holidays!

We began the year reviewing 2022 alongside senior leaders representing different corners of Framestore, including Film and Episodic, Framestore Pre-Production Services, Integrated Advertising, and Immersive. In this two-part episode, we meet Chris Blasko, our new Head of Production for Framestore Montreal.

Chris has been in the industry since the Summer of 2004 where he 'cut his teeth' as a VFX Production Coordinator at Sony Pictures Imageworks, then continued to sharpen his ‘VFX producer toolset’ with roles that followed at MPC, The Walt Disney Company, and Warner Bros Entertainment up until the fall of 2013. He then spent over 3 years in similar roles with emerging tech and immersive facilities Jaunt XR, and Subvrsive, before landing at DNEG Montreal at the end of 2019 where he stayed for almost 4 years quickly rising through the ranks to Head of Production.

Joining us as this week's guest co-host is Chloe Rodrigues, 3D Production Assistant in IA based in London. As a Bournemouth University graduate she quickly took on a role at Blue Zoo Animation Studio in the role of 3D Production Assistant, and then joined Framestore just a month before Chris this Summer. Chloe is also a non-executive board member with ACCESS:VFX the industry movement striving for increased diversity, inclusion and representation across visual effects, animation and games.

This week, we’re switching it up again with three special guests where we shine the spotlight on the Framestore Training and Talent Development Team!

Bonnie Dorais, Global Talent Development Manager at Framestore, started as a recruiter in 2019 and quickly transitioned to Training Manager within a year. Her background includes talent acquisition in Finance and Tech companies including Deloitte, PWC, and Acceo.

Jignesh Solanki, Mumbai-based Training Manager since August 2021, previously served as a Senior VFX Trainer at DNEG for over 4 years and held various academic and artistic roles since 2003, making him a valuable VFX and technical trainer for Framestore.

Kellie Finch, Confluence & Training Specialist, joined Framestore in February of the previous year. With a background in production and finance, Kellie has played a vital role in transforming the Confluence space at Framestore.

This is a wonderful conversation and insight into the value Framestore puts on training and development. Enjoy!

This week, we're excited to share the second of two special episodes of the Framestore Podcast in celebration of Black History Month, where we're breaking away from our usual format.

In this episode, we're not just acknowledging the importance of Black History Month; we're shifting our focus to explore 'Black Futures' via a set future-oriented 'dailies' questions with a few modifications to our usual format.

This week's special guests are London based Framestore Technology Strategist, Lorna Dumba, and LA based Company 3 SVP, for Global HR & DEI, Jimi Vaughn.

Lorna has been in the visual effects industry since early 2007, initially at MPC for over 3 years, contributing to projects like Prince of Persia and Harry Potter. She later became Head of Production at Milk Visual Effects in 2013, working on notable titles. Brief stints at Method Studios in 2014 and The Mill in 2015 followed, then in 2018, she worked on the Academy Award-nominated documentary Welcome to Chechnya with Atomic Arts. In early 2020, she joined dupe vfx as Head of Production & Senior Producer, focusing on sustainability and social impact. After a few years, she transitioned to Framestore in the role of Technology Strategist.

As for Jimi, he started his career in 2007 as an Assistant to Don Foster, an executive producer at Warner Brothers and CBS, where he worked on popular sitcoms. He then took on a role as a Project Manager at the Down Syndrome Association of Los Angeles for nearly a year. In 2015, he became the Director of Operations at Dear Mrs D, Inc, holding the position for over two years. In 2017, Jimi joined Deluxe Entertainment, where his role evolved into Manager of People Development, Diversity, & Engagement in 2018 and Director of Culture and Learning in 2019. He continued to progress and is now the Senior Vice President for Global HR and DEI as of the present month.
