Considering the former Cardinal McCarrick case of abuse my mind and heart has turned toward a message in the Prophet Ezekiel, Ezekiel 34: 7-10. Within this passage the Lord speaks to the shepherds of Israel through the prophet condemning them. The Lord says he is now against the shepherds because of their abuse of the sheep. I believe this message is need more now than ever, so the leaders can wake up and begin to identify the weeds among the wheat and respond recording. Recently, the Carmelite order on July 27th celebrated the memorial of Bl. Titus Brandsma. He was a Dutchman who worked to keep the Nazis and their ideology out of the catholic schools and newspapers in Holland. Today, I read a sermon he gave during the war years calling people to heroism in faith and love against the new-paganism of the Nazis.
