Andrew Murray states in his book on Humility that "Evil can have no beginning but from pride, and no end but from humility. The truth is this: Pride must die in you, or nothing of heaven can live in you."

Rest for our souls is conditional according to Jesus. We first have to take His 'yoke upon us' and imitate His attitudes towards God and others.

Knowing when to stop in our personal lives, knowing when to stop in our ministries and allowing space for transitions in the midst of our busy and demanding schedules are disciplines that must be cultivated and fought for if we want to continue to experience the rest for our souls that Jesus promises.

We’re all at our worst when we’re in a hurry! Rushing feverishly from one duty to the next, impatient and temperamental, never taking the time to rest and pause in between. Does that sound familiar?

Morgan Snyder highlights another side effect of our pace of life; “Busyness is the enemy of intimacy! Intimacy with God, intimacy with ourselves and others.” There’s a lot at stake here!

Be still": This phrase urges us to stop our striving, to cease our efforts, and to rest in God's presence

There are some things we get from God that don't come from our own efforts. We receive them by Grace, through Faith.

The children of Israel didn't enter into rest because of their unbelief. They didn't trust God to do what He said He would do.

We can believe that we are unworthy and don't deserve what God promises and fail to experience rest and peace, forgiveness and healing because of our beliefs.

Jesus invites us to come to Him, to take His 'yoke' upon us and we'll find rest for our souls!!! He invites us into a lighter and easier way to live.

For My yoke is wholesome (useful, good–not harsh, hard, sharp, or pressing, but comfortable, gracious, and pleasant), and My burden is light and easy to be borne." (Matthew 11:28-30)

We’re all touched at some level with relational conflict. We live in a world at war. Nations are at war, families at war, siblings at war.

In the adverse circumstances we face, it’s our responsibility to maintain our own heart-rest and peace.
