Brandon welcome author & film historian, John DiLeo to Front Row Classics this week. John has recently written a new book called, "There Are No Small Parts: 100 Outstanding Film Performances with Screen Time of 10 Minutes or Less". The book shines a spotlight on pivotal performances from gifted actors who make their mark with limited screen time. The actors range from major stars to dependable character actors in a wide variety of films from 1935-2019. Brandon and John highlight close to a dozen of the one-hundred performances discussed in the book. Born in Brooklyn and raised on Long Island, John currently resides in Milford, PA. He went to Ithaca College and received a B.F.A. in Theatre Arts. After thirteen years of on-and-off stage acting, and one film credit (THE JERKY BOYS), he switched to writing about film.

George joins Brandon to discuss the release of his autobiography, "My Place in the Sun: Life in the Golden Age of Hollywood and Washington". The book delves into his experiences growing up with a legendary film director father. He, then, forged his own path into becoming one of the true warriors for the performing arts in America. In this interview, you'll hear great stories revolving around such legendary 20th century figures as John F. Kennedy, Elizabeth Taylor and Katharine Hepburn. George also pays tribute to his late friend, Sidney Poitier.

He is the founder of the American Film Institute, creator of the AFI Life Achievement Award and the Kennedy Center Honors, and has served as co-chair of the President's Committee on the Arts and Humanities for President Obama. Awards and honors include fifteen Emmys, eight Writers Guild and two Peabody Awards, the Humanitas Prize, the Spirit of Anne Frank Award, an NAACP Legal Defense Fund Award, and an Honorary Academy Award in 2012. Howard Berger is an Oscar winner and an Emmy winner for his work in make-up over a forty year career in Hollywood. One of his first projects was Aliensand since then had has become a fixture in special effects make-up especially in the area of creatures and monsters. Howard won his Academy Award for The Chronicles of Narnia: the Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe. Craig gets a chance to ask him about his prolific career as well as some inside stories into his work with Quentin Tarantino and Sam Raimi. They also talk about the role of mentorships in Hollywood. Howard gives Craig his thoughts behind serving as one of the make-up and hair stylists to the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Michael was born and raised in Cincinnati. Throughout his school years, Michael had a love for acting as he was constantly surrounded by acting and music. He was in various school plays such as Hello, Dolly! and Pippin.
From college on, Michael pursued acting, singing, and dancing on stage with much critical acclaim. His Broadway and regional credits include Munkustrap in Cats (Broadway), the Tin Man in Wizard of OZ, Don Lockwood in Singin' in the Rain, Riff in West Side Story, Cousin Kevin in Tommy, Judd Fry in Oklahoma!, Sky Masterson in Guys and Dolls, Billy Crocker in Anything Goes, and Mike in the final company of A Chorus Line (Broadway).

We are excited to dive into the 1971 live action film, Bedknobs and Broomsticks. It wouldn't be right to talk about this classic film without inviting on Brandon Davis from Front Row Classics to give us a bit of credibility. In addition to Brandon, Anna joins us to give her perspective on Angela Lansbury and the film. It is difficult to watch this film and not compare it to Mary Poppins, so you'll find a lot of talk about that film as well.
