Jesus was a master of agricultural metaphors. His illustrations and parables were simple, yet powerful, and this is yet another that cuts right to the heart of the matter. We can profess to have faith and make ourselves outwardly appear very religious, but it is those who bear out the righteous fruit of faith who prove that they are true disciples of Christ. Even more, Christ teaches us that the mouth is the sound system of the heart, so what does our speech reveal about our spiritual state?
