A papal death is always followed by solemn and sacred spectacle but the grieving has been especially heartfelt for Pope Francis. He was a hugely popular pontiff, who at a polarised time did not shy away from confronting polarising issues like immigration, climate change and income inequality. His funeral will be held at the Vatican today, followed by his burial in a simple tomb engraved with a single word, Francisus.
