John has 33 years of experience within the NHS including 4 CEO roles. He was Chair of the West London Cancer network (2002-2005) and Chair of the North West London Diabetes Network (2003-2004). As a senior civil servant for the Department of Health he served as Program Consultant on leadership for the NHS Next Stage Review and then as Deputy Director for the NHS Medical Director/Director General. He has been Chief Executive of the Sickle Cell Society for the last 5 years. In June 2018, John was awarded an OBE as part of the Queen’s Birthday Honours.

Our guest is none other than Mr Steve Lash, Medical Director of Optegra who talks to us about the future of Ophthalmic care. Mr Lash joined Optegra Eye Hospital Hampshire in 2010. He is a Consultant Vitreo-retinal Surgeon (VR Surgeon) specialising in cataract, lens replacement, surgical retina, Retinal detachment, macular hole, epiretinal membrane and diabetes.

Richard has recently taken on the role at Boots as Director of Innovation where he has been tasked with Building on Boots’ vision for the future. Previously Chief Digital & Information Officer at Leeds Teaching Hospital Trust recognised as a national centre of excellence for specialist services such as paediatric and adult liver transplantation. 

At the end of 2017 Richard left his role in Ireland where he had been the Chief Information Officer for the Health Service Executive. In 2018 he became the first person outside of Ireland to be awarded the O’Moore Medal for health, an accolade reserved for a person making a significant change and impact to the way in which health and care is delivered across Ireland through information and technology.
