Virtual Reality Month continues at Hollywood Redux! This week IGL hosts, Justin, AJ, and Kyle take on future applications for VR in the greater Entertainment realm beyond mere gaming, including some hopes and dreams (cough Harry Potter VR for all seven books cough).
VR has implications for not just gaming, but any kind of entertainment, including sports. Imagining being able to stand on the sidelines at an NFL game or on stage with Paul McCartney. It's not just what kind of entertainment you can augment via VR, but also how you consume it: Nervous on airplanes? Strap on your headset and watch movies on the surface of the moon to relax in-flight. Missing family who live far away? Sit in a theater and watch a movie with your sister in Boston from your apartment in Seattle. In this way, VR has the potential to enhance interpersonal connections and create new entertainment experiences (not just give rise to the machines who will inevitably become our overlords).
