Shez Partovi, MD, is a distinguished leader in healthcare technology, currently serving as the Chief Innovation & Strategy Officer and Chief Business Leader of Enterprise Informatics at Royal Philips, roles he has held since July 2021. With a career blending clinical expertise, entrepreneurship, and technological innovation, Partovi drives Philips’ mission to deliver scalable, patient-centric solutions that enhance healthcare outcomes and accessibility worldwide.
Partovi earned his medical degree from McGill University in Montreal, Canada, and completed his neuroradiology subspecialty training at the Barrow Neurological Institute in Phoenix, Arizona. His undergraduate studies combined Life Sciences and Computer Science, laying the groundwork for his dual expertise. After a decade in clinical practice as a neuroradiologist (1998-2013), he transitioned into executive roles, leveraging his technical and medical insights.
Before Philips, Partovi spent 20 years at Dignity Health, the fifth-largest U.S. health system, where he served as Chief Health Information Officer and later Chief Digital Officer/Senior Vice President of Digital Transformation (2016-2018). As CHIO, he led the enterprise-wide deployment of Cerner electronic health records and PACS systems across inpatient, outpatient, and oncology settings. As CDO, he overhauled the digital experience for patients, providers, and consumers, earning praise for elevating healthcare delivery through technology.
In 2018, Partovi joined Amazon Web Services (AWS) as the Worldwide Lead for Healthcare, Life Sciences, and Genomics, spearheading global cloud transformation strategies and advancing AI and machine learning adoption in healthcare. His entrepreneurial ventures include founding multiple health IT companies, notably a telehealth platform built on AWS, reflecting his knack for innovation.
At Philips, Partovi oversees the global Innovation & Strategy organization, including the Chief Technology Office, Research, and HealthSuite Platforms, while leading the Enterprise Informatics business (established 2023). This division integrates software and hardware to provide actionable insights, optimizing workflows and patient care. His work emphasizes AI-driven diagnostics and cloud-based solutions, as seen in initiatives like Philips’ collaboration with AWS to enhance spectral-detector CT and informatics platforms showcased at events like HIMSS24.
