This week on The G Code I got to interview Zandra Cunningham of Zandra Beauty
Meet Zandra
"My name is Zandra Azariah Cunningham. I am a 15 year old entrepreneur from Buffalo, NY. When I’m not creating products to make you look, feel, and smell good, I am busy with my studies at Nardin Academy. Some of my favorite extracurricular activites include reading, dancing, and golf.
My fascination with entrepreneurship began when I was 9 years old; I joined the Kids Biz Small Business Development Center program at Buffalo State University during the spring of 2010. This program taught me the basic principles of business: business development, marketing, finances, and how to select a business that I am passionate about.
With the assistance of my family, my newfound appreciation for entrepreurship, and focus, I started my business, Azariah’s Innocence, a few days shy of my 10th birthday. My first products, lip balms and whipped shea body butters, were sold at local farmer markets in the summer of 2010. I started with lip balms and body butter because these were products that I frequently used myself. Instead of spending money on these products I thought it would be a good idea to start making my own. I wanted to make products that smelled good and kept my skin soft without irritating it (as so many products on the market caused me to break out).
To date, my business has become an inspiration to my peers as well as other entreprenuers. I have received admiration from local business owners and elite organizations, founded organizations, served as an ambassador, and am paying it forward by teaching about teenpreneurship in my community.
With much hard work and diligence, I recently finished a major rebrand that now reflects my new style – a funky, fresh faced teenpreneur with a passion for natural beauty products. I am happy to say I did it, I created a brand for us, the not so average teen girl who is ready to conquer the world, loves to smell good and feel beautiful without all the yucky stuff!
My new line is:
Fun, Fresh Natural Bath + Body for the Educated + Empowered Girl on the Move!
Z A N D R A is about confidence and beauty; I believe that young ladies should be confident in their own skin and learn what beauty is from the inside out. My hope is to inspire youth to take action and make things happen for themselves and their communities. I aspire to create natural products (all of my products are paraben and sulfate free) that promote relaxation and luminous skin. I use only the finest ingredients (natural butters and premium oils) so that your natural beauty can shine through"
