This week Stan finishes the last sermon of our Advent series and our last service of 2021 (thankfully) looking at the Christmas hymn We Three Kings. When the wise men approached the baby Jesus they fell down and worshiped with barely an introduction. This hymn invites us to consider how we approach our Lord who is all at once helpless babe, loving savior, our high priest, and the Lord of all creation. As you walk through the advent season, how do you approach your child savior?

This week, Jonathan Sheaffer explores the advent hymn O Come, O Come Emmanuel. Each verse speaks to the deep, emotional longing that believers have towards the expectation of the coming Messiah. What is the biblical story behind this popular Christmas song? Who is “the shoot from the stump of Jesse,” and why is his arrival something to celebrate in this advent season?

This Sunday we begin the Advent season –a time in the church calendar where we prepare our hearts in remembrance of our Savior that has come in the flesh 2000 years ago. Listen in as Pastor Jordan leads us through the first Sunday of this year's advent series looking at the biblical themes of 4 Christmas carols we know by heart. This week, we learn from 'It Came Upon A Midnight Clear' about God's invitation to walk into uncertainty with the peace of His presence.

Our friend & guest speaker Nick Nowalk is back with us this week! As we enter Thanksgiving, we reflect on a Psalm of thankfulness. Giving thanks to God as our Creator and King includes uninhibited enthusiasm, submissive prostration, and loyal love in life. Any of these without the others results in a truncated and falsified form of giving thanks to God. Doing all three together constitutes our flourishing and the service we owe to God ("glorifying God and enjoying Him forever").

We conclude our series on the Book of Acts, "Now What?" We spent the last 8 weeks exploring the early church to get a glimpse of how we are called to be the church in NYC.
This Sunday, we will see how the early members of the church, in the midst of persecution and so many unknowns, depended on God and relied on the Holy Spirit to move, grow, protect and sustain the church. We will encounter a God who reveals Himself to the early church through miracles, by healing the sick, delivering those afflicted by demonic oppression, removing physical shackles in prison, and so much more. What would it look like if the "God of Miracles" was at work in our church in 2020?

We're pausing our 'Now What?' sermon series to acknowledge the political goings-on in our country right now. Stan will look at the upside down Kingdom of God in the book of Mark and ask us to examine how we try to solve our problems through the world's methods. The world seeks power through politics, wealth through hoarding, & leadership through domination. But Jesus's life shows power that comes from surrendering to the cross, wealth that comes from giving away, & leadership that comes through being a servant.

Continuing his series in the Book of Acts, Pastor Stan Thomas discusses the tragedy of Ananias and Sapphira. He shows that because God deeply loves his Church, He protects her and calls her to live in radical transparency. How does God’s discipline expose what is in our hearts? How does your view of God affect your willingness to be vulnerable? What are some things that you hide from God and his community of believers?

As we continue our series, Book of Acts Now What? Pastor Stan Thomas shows how the early Church was not merely focused on spiritual and emotional transformation, but also cared deeply for people’s physical needs. How should the Church treat its resources when faced with the material needs of others? Are you open to receiving the gifts the church offers, as well as willing to share your own time and resources?

Guest speaker Nick Nowalk takes the next step in our series through the book of Acts exploring the "shape" of the gospel in the latter part of Acts 10. Nick defines a "what?", a "how?" and a "why?" that we need to distinguish and yet hold together in our communication about the significance of the story of Jesus to the world. It makes all the difference that we understand the gospel as whole, not in bits and pieces.
