Muddy Boys | Episode 79

In Episode 79 of The Game Related Show, we head down to Bethel High School to sit down with two childhood friends who have become pillars in the DMV grassroots basketball community: Doug “One-Armed Doug” Dormu and Coach Boogie Washington.

Before they became coaches, I actually used to train with these guys. Doug had me running through Rock Creek Park, and we would hit streetball tournaments together. I was the young gunner running with them, and those experiences created a relationship and bond that has lasted for years.

Now, both have built programs that are making a major impact.

Doug “One-Armed Doug” Dormu is the head coach of the Washington Warriors, an Adidas-sponsored program, and has developed some of the best players in the DMV. Before coaching, Doug was a high-level player at Theodore Roosevelt, overcoming obstacles that many people would have used as an excuse.

Coach Boogie Washington is the head girls basketball coach at Bethel High School, where he has built a flagship program that continues to produce high-level players.

In this conversation, we go straight into player development.
